FAQs

Registration & Payment

How and When can I register?

Signups open for NIST families only from 13 March – 1 April 2019. We will begin accepting applications for non-NIST students on 5 April 2019.

  • If you are a NIST family, your details should already be in Veracross, and you can simply sign up here.
  • If you are a non-NIST family and have never attended a summer school session at NIST, you must first register in Veracross After completing the registration process, you can then apply here

If the system is rejecting your application, please contact Summer School Coordinator James Cohn for assistance.

Where, When and How do I pay?

Tuition for the summer program is 20,000 THB for two weeks and 40,000 THB for four weeks.

  • Payment can be made in person directly to the cashier at NIST (building 1, 2nd floor) by cash, check or cashier’s check (made payable to NIST International School) or by credit card.
  • Payment can be made by credit card online (this option will appear in the registration process once your application has been accepted and you have been placed in a class)

Please note that there is a 2.5% charge for paying by credit card. All payment must be received by 10 May 2019. Payment not received by this deadline will result in the student losing their place in the class

What is the next step after payment?

You will receive an email from the summer school coordinator one week prior to the programme. This message will provide you with additional information about the first day and trip, and will include a form for additional health details if you are a non-NIST parent.

Can I get a full refund if I have to withdraw?

If you withdraw from the program prior to the 1st payment deadline no fee will apply. If you withdraw after the 1st deadline, a 25% fee will be charged. Withdrawals later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the 1st week of the program will not be refunded.

Programmes & Courses

How is the daily programme scheduled?

Summer School will start on 17 June and end on 12 July 2019. All programmes run from 9:00AM to 1:30 PM Monday through Friday for both sports and Academic courses.

Which academic course should I choose?

NIST students will be placed according to their upcoming year level, non-NIST students will be placed according to their age. Please see our chart for age/year levels here. Please do not request that your child enter a year level different from the “class at NIST” section of the chart, an exception may only be made in cases where the birthday is within one month from the cut off date, and only on a case by case basis.

Do we accept students who are beginning to learn english?

Our summer program at NIST is designed to review and strengthen Language and Mathematics skills from the student’s previous year of regular instruction. Please note that this program is not intended to be an English language learning course. Students entering the program should have been studying in a program with course material delivered in the English Language during the regular academic year. Non-NIST students who wish to apply for the program will need to answer the questions provided in the application process and may be asked to provide additional information or conduct an oral interview if required.

Do I have to enroll my child for the whole programme?

Students must be registered for a minimum of two weeks in either programme. Students may join one programme for a full four weeks, or join both programmes for two weeks each.

Can I change from the academic camp to the sports camp or vice versa?

It is possible to switch only prior to the start of the programme. Contact James Cohn to request any changes. However, once enrolled in a course that has already begun, students must complete the full term and cannot switch mid-course. Please be aware that classes fill up quickly, changes prior to the program can only be made if there is space available in the class for which you would like to switch

Is the sports camp just one sport or several different sports?

The sports camp offers multiple sports, and it is scheduled to allow students to take part in a variety of sports during the day.

Can I switch classes?

Please be reminded that we adhere strictly to our age/year level requirements at NIST. Any changes will be decided at the discretion of the program coordinator

Can I extend the length of the programme if my child likes it?

This is at the discretion of the coordinator and depends on the size of classes, so it is advisable to sign up for the full four weeks to avoid disappointment.

Several hotels are in the immediate vicinity. Of the following options, we recommend the Royal President Hotel and The Dream Hotel, both of which are near to the school.
